Virtual Camp Fun!

Social Music Camps for Children and Teens with Special Needs
About the Camp

We are offering 3 camp opportunities this year: Spring Break, one week in June, and one in July.

What exactly is camp about? We are SO excited to offer this opportunity. Each day our campers will learn and participate in music based on a theme. Participants will also work together to make a variety of art projects that will be used in a special Friday final performance.

When you click the register button, you will be guided to our full intake paperwork. Because we will be spending a significant amount of time with your child, we want to know as much as possible! You will also be required to provide a credit card number to reserve your spot. Availability is limited so get signed up today.

*If you are a current Sound Starts family, you have already submitted this paperwork and do not need to do so again. Please send an email to or let your music therapist know you’d like to register and we will add you to the list. Easy, peasy!

What to Expect ONLINE

Each day will take on a similar format:

1) You will receive a physical packet (either picked up prior to camp or mailed to you) with each day’s materials and instructions. Links of recorded material will also be emailed to you.

2) Our team will be available online from 9am to noon each day. However, your camper is not expected to stay online in front of a screen for the entire time. The beauty of online camp is that we will provide video recordings so you can complete at your leisure if that works better for you. We are also allowing plenty of “down” time so you can “drop-in” throughout the morning.

3) A sample schedule will look like this:

9:00-9:45 Morning Social Group: During this time, we will meet online as a group for music activities designed to encourage social interaction and communication skills.

10:00-11:00 Flex Hour 1/Art Projects: Your camper can drop-in anytime during the hour to create their art project with the materials provided in your packet. An entire hour will not be needed so come and go as you please. You will receive a video with instructions so if this time does not work, then feel free to complete on your own time!

11:00-12:00 Flex Hour 2/Individual Performance Practice: During this drop-in hour, each participant will receive 1:1 time with a music therapist or music therapy intern to work on a special song for Friday’s Wrap Up Performance. The camper does not need to come for a full hour but can “drop-in” whenever convenient to work as long as needed (from 5 to 30 minutes as needed). You will receive recordings to practice on your own time if you prefer.

4) Wrap Up Performance: On Friday, we will hold a special group online at noon for each participant to share a song/activity they have worked on during the week. While we want all our campers to participate, it is optional, per your schedule and desire to participate!

We look forward to having you at camp this year!

No Musical Talent Required

Your child doesn’t know music? Not a concern! Your child(ren) do not need musical talent to participate in our camp. Music promotes social skills, fosters interaction, develops language (speaking and/or singing), and engages our motor skills.  Our camp is designed for your child to have a great time with other children while working on many “non-musical” skills.

Where will the camp be held?

Via Zoom, an online video platform. When you sign up, you will receive the link that will be used during the week.

Who will be running the group?

All camp activities will be led by members of the Sound Starts team who have experience in working with children with special needs. Read more about our team here. Additional music therapy students may also volunteer to ensure a maximum level of support.

Cost for the full week of camp is $149/camper. When you complete intake paperwork, you will provide payment information. This will reserve your spot in the class. Your card will not be charged until the Tuesday of camp. If you wish to pay by cash or check, please bring payment on the first day. No refunds will be available after start date regardless of attendance.
