Fall Session Weeks 4 & 5

Hello Everyone! Below you will find the songs that we sang and played during week 4 & 5.  As always, if there is a specific skill that you would like to see addressed, you can email me – mary@soundstartsmusic.com – at anytime.

Welcome to Music Time

Our greeting song is also found on our Music Therapy Kids blog here. http://www.musictherapykids.com/welcome-to-music-time-a-new-greeting-song/

I Got a Song in my Tummy

This is a Laurie Berkner favorite. I am including the video below because really she does it best!! This is a perfect song for being silly, imitating movements, and just to get moving!

Getting to Know Someone

First audio recording has a few example questions. The second is blank for you to ask your own questions. I have also included 2 sheets of questions that we asked during class. You can attach each question to a ball and roll it around as we did in class OR you can read straight from the sheet.

Get to Know you Questions

Book: Waking Up is Hard to Do

Another Neil Sedaka work of art! Set to the tune of “Breaking Up is Hard to Do,” you can check this out from the library or purchase via Amazon.

Clap Your Hands

An easy movement tune!

I am Confident

The official recording will be up on the Music Therapy Kids blog in about a week or so (I will have the link next week), but here is my rough cut so you can get started listening and learning!

Mood Groove

This is another song to help with feeling recognition and expression! Pics included in link. Emotion Pictures

Parachute

If you have a parachute, great! If not, any lightweight blanket and open space will work. Make sure to use a lightweight ball (that won’t hurt anyone or anything) at the end.

When I was one, I had some fun going over the sea.
I jumped aboard a pirate ship and the pirate said to me…
Going OVER, going UNDER, stand at attention, like a soldier
With ONE, TWO, THREE (ball gets tossed into air from scarf)

When I was two, I tied my shoe going over the sea…
When I was three, I climbed a tree going over the sea…
When I was four, I shut the door going over the sea…
When I was five, I took a dive going over the sea…
When I was six, I picked up sticks going over the sea…
When I was seven, I looked at heaven going over the sea…
When I was eight, I shut the gate going over the sea…
When I was nine, I took the time going over the sea…
When I was ten, I said “the end” going over the sea…

Hum a Tune – Kazoo Song

Kazoo’s can be purchased cheaply from almost anywhere that sells party supplies. If you are looking for one that will last try here (West Music is where I buy my instruments). This kazoo is dishwasher safe.

Dance to the Music

Another movement song to have a great dance party, work on following directions and imitation!

Move Your Scarves

Any scarf from your closet will work just fine for this song!

Book: Pets Go Marching

This book is set to the familiar “Ants Go Marching” tune. You don’t need a recording to enjoy this one! Just use the PDF to sing and/or read the book 🙂

Pets Go Marching

Goodbye

This is how we said goodbye as our session concluded.

Can’t wait to see you for final week 6!
